All letters to Downing Street are logged and read by the correspondence unit. Responses to policy letters typically come from a relevant minister's office. Personal cases — especially those involving an MP referral — are more likely to receive a direct reply.

For formal correspondence, appeals or anything where you want a record of delivery, yes. Royal Mail Signed For requires a signature on delivery. For time-critical matters, Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm is the most secure option.

Can I write to a specific government minister instead?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we post to any government address. Write to the relevant Secretary of State or Minister by name, care of their department (e.g. the Home Office, Department for Health, etc.) using the official gov.uk address.

How quickly will my letter be posted?

If you place your order before 1:30pm on a UK working day, your letter goes into the post the same day. Orders placed after 1:30pm, at weekends, or on UK bank holidays are despatched on the next working day.

Is my letter content kept private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Content is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), retained for 90 days for re-print in case of return, then automatically deleted. We are UK GDPR compliant and registered with the ICO.
