When to use this template

Tips for using this template

1Check your tenancy agreement for the required notice period. Most periodic tenancies require one clear calendar month, but some require two months.
2Send the letter by tracked post so you have proof of delivery. Keep a copy.
3Your landlord must protect your deposit in a government-approved scheme (TDS, DPS or mydeposits) and return it within 10 days of agreeing deductions.
4If your fixed-term tenancy has not ended, check whether you have a break clause before serving notice early.
5Take dated photographs of the property on the day you leave as evidence of condition.
